Bore No More
Bore No More is an open, extensible framework that allows you to harness the power of BCI in applications built inside Unity. The team is currently working on classifiers for boredom, flow, and nervousness. The project can be used to adjust the difficulty level of games or during study sessions. Bore No More was awarded second place at the NTX Hackathon.

Bore No More is a tool designed to adapt an application to the user based on their emotional state – primarily boredom, frustration, and the immersive state of "flow".
Effects:
- Enhanced user experience
- More personalized software
- Dynamic adaptation based on mood changes
Utilizing this solution can help create better education systems by continuously considering students' feelings. This allows for taking a break at the right moment or providing a more stimulating task. It also enables the analysis of learners to optimize and improve lessons. For example, a teacher could analyze which elements are boring for students in order to improve them. In the context of e-learning, in an application like Duolingo, it could be used to trigger a timed task to stimulate a bored user.
Regarding entertainment, using the Bore No More framework would allow for the creation of immersive gameplay that reacts to the player's current state, adjusting the difficulty level or other game elements. In the case of solutions like choose-your-own-adventure series, this adaptation could happen automatically based on emotions.
A significant challenge during the creation of our project was the need to define what the individual emotional states actually mean; for instance, how do we determine boredom? Using scientific papers and theories on emotions, we defined the states in our experiment as follows: boredom - insufficient stimulus, immersion (flow) - optimal stimulus, frustration - overwhelming / excessive stimulus. The next problematic element was designing the experiment itself – specifically, how to create a uniform experience for users in an artificial environment where we could elicit these specific emotions.
Our first success was winning second place globally in the Software category at the "NeuroTechX 2023" hackathon, where we prepared a prototype of our solution in 24 hours.
Subsequently, we were honored in the "Innovation" category at the "Young Talents 2024" gala organized by the Lower Silesian Capital Club.
